1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help a website work, remember preferences, and (if enabled) help us understand how the site is used.
2. Types of cookies we use
- Essential cookies: required for the website to function (for example, remembering cookie choices).
- Analytics cookies (optional): used to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager).
We only set analytics cookies if you accept them through our cookie banner/settings.
3. Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics (GA)
We use Google Tag Manager to manage website tags and triggers. GTM itself does not normally store personal data, but it can load tools (such as Google Analytics) which may set cookies.
We use Google Analytics to measure website usage (for example, page views, time on page, and how visitors navigate). This helps us improve the website and content.
Analytics data is reported in aggregate and is used to understand website performance and improve user experience.
4. Cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| seal_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preferences (so the banner doesn’t keep showing). | Essential | Up to 12 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics cookie used to distinguish users and measure visits (analytics reporting). | Analytics (optional) | Typically up to 2 years |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics (GA4) cookie used to persist session state. | Analytics (optional) | Typically up to 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics cookie used to store and count page views. | Analytics (optional) | Typically 24 hours |
| _gat / _gat_* | Used by Google Analytics to throttle request rates (helps performance). | Analytics (optional) | Typically 1 minute |
| GTM (no specific cookie) | Google Tag Manager helps load and manage tags. GTM itself does not typically set a cookie, but it can load tools (like Analytics) that do. | Depends on tags | Depends on tags |
The cookies listed above are the most common. Depending on configuration, Google may set additional cookies. We will update this page if our setup changes.
5. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings (block or delete cookies). Please note that disabling essential cookies may affect website functionality.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
